First appeared in 1987 in BANKELAL KA KAMAAL (GENL-0089). Created by Manoj Gupta. The issue was written by Papinder Juneja and illustrated by Bedi. This comic featured Bankelal and how he got his infamous curse/boon and him crossing paths with Raja Vikramsingh, his frenemy for decades to come.
Origin Story
Born as a divine blessing to the humble couple Nanku and Gulabati after their prayers to Lord Shiva, Bankelal grew up to become a cunning yet comical schemer. Though he constantly plots against Raja Vikramsingh, fate hilariously twists his evil plans into good deeds, turning him into one of India’s most unique comic anti-heroes.
